Meet Kim & Jan
Discover the enchanting magic of Swedish Lapland
We are Jan and Kim, two adventurers from the Netherlands who lost their hearts to the pristine nature of the High North. What started as a dream grew into Pippin in Lapland, our own place in the snow where we share our passion for Arctic life with travelers looking for something authentic.
In 2016, we started our walking holidays, complete with tipis and delicious food. For our winter program, we wanted to seek out the real winter, and we found it in Lapland. After a fantastic first trip, we were immediately hooked; in the years that followed, our winters in Lapland grew longer and longer.
Since 2023, we have found our own little spot in Alttajärvi, near Kiruna. Since then, we have been living in this incredibly beautiful place during the winter and welcoming travelers to our cozy group house. Because we now know how to find the most beautiful spots and the best tours here, we added 'Building Blocks' to our program in 2025. This way, you can now put together your own ideal winter adventure with us!

Our cozy 12-person house
Our atmospheric group accommodation, featuring separate bedrooms, a living room with a wood-burning stove, and multiple shared bathrooms, is situated right next to the Poikkijärvi Forest and Lake Alttajärvi. This house can accommodate a total of 12 people, yet with the privacy of separate bedrooms. We have two 4-person rooms and two 2-person rooms, so you can always retreat for a moment.
In the open kitchen, Kim prepares delicious meals, which are served buffet-style. We can all enjoy a cozy meal together at the large table. Our Border Collies, Haggis and Smørrie, are everyone's friends and are always up for a cuddle. Next to the house are a sauna, a fire pit, and the tiny house where Kim, Jan, and the Border Collies stay overnight.
In de open keuken maakt Kim de heerlijke maaltijden klaar welke in buffetvorm worden geserveerd. Aan de grote tafel kunnen we gezellig met z'n allen genieten. Onze border collies Haggis en Smørrie zijn allemans vrienden en altijd in voor een knuffel. Naast het huis staan een sauna, vuurhut en het tinyhouse waar Kim, Jan en de border collies overnachten.

Northern Lights Viewing in Swedish Lapland: Facts & Figures
According to our local data, the chance of seeing the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) during a 5-day stay in our region in Swedish Lapland between December and early April is over 90%. Due to its location 200 km above the Arctic Circle and the lack of light pollution in the immediate vicinity of the Pippin in Lapland house, the Kp index (magnetic activity) required for visibility is lower than in more southerly parts of Scandinavia. The best viewing time is on average between 19:00 and 01:00.

At Pippin, we don't like mass tourism. We believe in small groups, personal attention, and authentic adventures. We want to show you the Lapland we fell in love with: the deafening silence of the forest, the power of a dog team, and the cozy warmth of a crackling fireplace after a day in the cold.
